Description

US Civil War Model 1832 Foot Artillery Short Sword with Leather Scabbard. The ricasso is faintly marked "Springf", the reverse has what looks like "1836.", the underside of the crossguard has "H.K.C." and "O.R.D.". The grip is tight. The blade is straight, sharpened (very sharp), a few nicks, a little light pitting, surface rust freckles, and the tip has been blunted. The leather scabbard is solid with tight stitching (someone has painted the thread red), some crazing, surface loss spots scattered throughout, the rivets/pins are missing from the throat piece, there is a 1/8" hole on the backside, and there is electrical tape at the spot where the scabbard meets the drag (possibly holding it on, I didn't take it off to check). Length of the blade is 18 7/8" (1 3/4" wide x 1/4" thick), the sword is 24 15/16", and in the scabbard it is 25 9/16". Check out my other War Items! Including More Swords and Many Bayonets!!
