PRESERVING AMERICAN HISTORY CIVIL WAR HENRY SAUERBIER IRISH BRIGADE PRESENTATION GRADE WITH JEWELLED POMMEL, SILVER GRIP WITH BATTLE SCENE ON BLADE OF UNION SOLDIERS CAPTURING CONFEDERATE SOLDIERS, UNMARKED, CUSTOM DESIGNED AND MADE FOR A WELL TO DO HIGH RANKING OFFICER, CIRCA 1861. HENRY SAUERBIER ONLY MADE SWORDS IN NEW JERSEY DURING THE CIVIL WAR. JEWEL IS PROBABLY A TOPAZ OR QUARZ TYPE, NOT PRECIOUS JEWEL. THEY WERE POPULAR ON PRESENTATION SWORDS OF THE PERIOD, BUT VERY RARE, AND NOT MANY COME TO MARKET. I HAVE ANOTHER SAUERBIER, THAT HAS OPALS ON POMMEL AN GRIP LISTED IN A DIFFERENT AUCTION.
