Folded again to mail. I do not have the envelope. Measures about 6.5" x 4.25". Excerpts: Fond-du-Lac (Wisconsin). June 20th/(18)64 Dear Annie. I have just written to your dear husband...I know I have neglected you and Joseph both, but it has not been because I didn't think of you. I have felt very anxious about Joseph all the time knowing he was in so much danger and wished I could;d hear from him often, but have not heard since he left home....Oh this dreadful war. Our countries (sic) soil is already soaked in blood, and when will the end be (?) Will it be when every heart is made sa, and every form shrouded in mourning-- Let us pray that it may come soon & wish it our dear Joseph be returned to us safe and sound. I felt very sorry that I too couldn't see Joseph while he was at home but I was glad he couldn't go home if I couldn't. You must have enjoyed his visit very much... Love from Justin and myself, and a kiss from Genie for his new Auntie. Sister Nellie Condition is excellent, as shown.
