Description
Eagle Head Artillery or Cavalry Officers Sword with Scabbard. Napoleonic Wars era. Ricasso is m arked "C.V. Keller" and on the reverse "in Solingen". The grip and backstrap are tight, the crossguard wiggles. The knuckleguard has been removed at some point. The grip has 80% of the leather left. The double strands of twisted wire are mostly complete, only the bottom row looks damaged. The faint blued blade has nice gold etchings, lightly sharpened, some nicks, the bottom half has some pitting with surface rust scattered, it looks like somebody tried to clean the blade with sandpaper or something similar, and there is a very slight bend about a 1/4" up from the tip. The leather scabbard is solid, most of the stitching has let go, surface leather loss spots, some edge loss towards the bottom, comes up 1/8" shy of going on all way due to shrinkage, the throat piece and drag are missing . W asher is missing. Length of the blade is 29 15/16" (1 3/16" wide and 1/4" thick), the sword is 35", and in the scabbard it is also 35" because it is missing the drag. Check out my other War Items ! Including More Swords and Many Bayonets!!
