Description
Eagle Head Artillery or Naval Officers Sword with Scabbard. Un marked. The grip, guard, and pommel all wiggle. The grip has a top to bottom crack line but isn't loose and there has been a small repair by the ferule (it is a different color, so it is easy to see). The faint blued blade has nice gold etchings, it is straight, unsharpened, a couple minor nicks, has age spots scattered, and there is a little light pitting near the tip. The leather scabbard has mostly tight stitching, surface leather loss scattered, the throat piece is loose, the drag has been glued on and a ball finial has been added to it . W asher is intact. Length of the blade is 29 1/4" (1 3/16" wide and 1/4" thick), the sword is 35", and in the scabbard it is 35 13/16". Circa 1800 - Possibly naval due to the ring where the knuckleguard meets the pommel. Check out my other War Items ! Including More Swords and Many Bayonets!!
