A SELDOM FOUND CIVIL WAR ERA LEATHER ARTILLERY BRIDLE WITH ONE ORIGINAL REIN AND A "USA" LETTERS ENTERTWINED BRASS FACED BIT IN SUPERB CONDITION. THIS IS A VERY RARE BRIDLE IN REMARKABLE CONDITION GIVEN THAT IT IS MORE THAN 150 YEARS OLD. THE MATCHING "USA" ROSETTES ARE EXCELLENT WITH A LEATHER BACKING. THE HORSESHOE BUCKLES ARE CORRECT MADE OF IRON WITH BRASS FACING INCLUDING THE REIN BUCKLES. THE LEATHER IS DRY WITH SURFACE CRAZING AND FINISH LOSS TO BE EXPECTED ON LEATHER THIS OLD.THE STITCHING IS ALWAYS FRAGILE ON THESE AND SOME OF THE FASTENING BILLETS HAVE NOT BEEN BUCKLED BUT MERELY SLID INTO THE BILLET LOOP KEEPERS. ONE IS LOOSE ON ONE SIDE AS SHOWN IN MY PICTURES, THE BIT IS MARKED "US" ON THE MOUTH PIECE. THERE IS NO ARSENAL MARKINGS EXCEPT FOR A COUPLE OF "US" STAMPED IN THE LEATHER.
